Properties of nattokinase

Nattokinase supports the function of the cardiovascular system. When it comes into contact with blood clots, it exhibits potent fibrinolytic (clot-breaking) activity and acts by inactivating plasminogen activator inhibitor 1 (PAI-1). Elevated PAI-1 is one of the main risk factors for clot formation and atherosclerosis of blood vessels. NK then leads to a reduction in fibrin, a protein that precipitates from plasma during the clotting process and forms clots.
