Thanks to the activation of MC3 and MC4 receptors, PT-141 effects both increased erectile strength and perceptibly increases libido. This action is rooted in an increase in the level of the love hormone called oxytocin.
An important feature that distinguishes PT-141 peptide among libido enhancers is that it has achieved FDA designation as a drug, thanks to its effectiveness in treating sexual desire disorders in premenopausal women. Nevertheless, it also successfully works on libido and erection in men. Based on the experience of men using this peptide, we can base a theory on the effectiveness of PT-141 in maintaining erections also in cases where sildenafil has failed.
Dosing of bremelanotide
Both in the form of a convenient spray and as a subcutaneous injection, bremelanotide should be applied half an hour before planned intercourse for best results. Peak effects after intranasal application last for about half an hour, while the entire half-life is up to two hours.
A single dose of the peptide should be between 1 mg and 2 mg, but this is strongly dependent on the patients' health (including sexual health), as well as their current libido. Thus, on some people a dose as low as 500 mcg will work, and on others - 4 mg, and only after several times of use.
