Alpha yohimbine, also known as rauwolscine, is a stronger and more "concentrated" form of the compound associated with yohimbine (an extract from Pausinystalia yohimbe). In practice, it is sometimes chosen when what counts is a clearly perceptible stimulation, greater mobilization for action and "cranking up" training regimen - especially during periods of reduction.

It's a popular ingredient in figure-oriented supplementation, as it can promote an increase in spontaneous physical activity and energy expenditure, facilitating fat loss (the effect depends on diet, training and individual response).

The mechanism of action of alpha yohimbine is often described as blocking alpha-2 (α2-AR) receptors in adipose tissue. In this context, it is associated with increased fatty acid mobilization and enhanced thermogenic processes. Its profile is also sometimes discussed in the context of stronger activation of the sympathetic nervous system (including norepinephrine/adrenaline), which translates into energy, "drive" and readiness for intense work.

What's more, in laboratory animal studies, a reduction in food intake was observed (in one model by as much as about 33%) - however, this is preclinical data and is no guarantee of a similar effect in humans.
